The Sandbox (SAND) has partnered with Warner Music Group to launch the first music world in its metaverse. The 3rd largest consortium in the music industry plans to host concerts and new music experiences.
The Sandbox partners with Warner Music Group
The Sandbox (SAND), one of the most popular and developed metaverses, has partnered with Warner Music Group (WMG) to create the first music-themed virtual world.
Featuring concerts and music experiences with key artists from WMG’s repertoire, the space will be a hybrid of a music theme park and concert hall.
Warner Music Group is a music industry behemoth with numerous record labels, including Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, David Guetta, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Coldplay, Dua Lipa, Madonna and Wiz Khalifa.
“As a former entertainment executive, I am thrilled that one of the world’s largest music companies, with some of the most talented artists, is joining The Sandbox to create talent-driven experiences,”
said Bertrand Levy, vice president of global partnerships for The Sandbox.
To celebrate the new partnership, The Sandbox will host a LAND sale during the month of March, which will offer music fans the opportunity to purchase land adjacent to that owned by Warner Music.
“We’re shaping The Sandbox into an entertainment destination where creators, fans and gamers can have new immersive experiences and be more closely connected to their favorite music artists through NFTs. This strategic partnership with Warner Music Group moves the metaverse in the direction of fan-owned and community-led initiatives – the prospects are very exciting,”
added Sebastien Borget, co-founder of The Sandbox.
The Sandbox is getting more and more attractive
Decidedly, The Sandbox metaverse is proving to be particularly attractive for brands and artists. Warner Music Group joins more than 200 other entities, including The Walking Dead, Atari, Steve Aoki, Deadmau5 and Snoop Dogg.
The list is likely to grow quickly, and The Sandbox’s competition with Decentraland, another metaverse in the spotlight, is expected to intensify in the coming months.
To give itself the best chance of developing its ecosystem, The Sandbox has set up a startup incubator, which will have a $50 million fund. The company plans to support up to 40 startups per year, which will be able to receive a maximum of $250,000.
The idea of The Sandbox is to fund and advise projects that could emerge as leaders in their respective fields within the metaverse. Obviously, this will greatly benefit The Sandbox and could give it a leg up on its main competitors.
