Jason Fung, former head of gaming for the social network TikTok is getting into blockchain. With his startup Meta0, he intends to solve the lack of interoperability in the GameFi sector.
Jason Fung goes into blockchain gaming
After two years working for the social network TikTok as the head of gaming, Jason Fung decided to launch his blockchain startup. His mission is to create a solution that enables interoperability.
“Right now, if you look at a developer when they implement NFTs or blockchain in their games, they have to choose one blockchain, whether it’s Polygon or Solana or Binance Smart Chain. But imagine a more interoperable option.”
It is true that this limitation can be a constraint for the GameFi industry. After all, each network has its own advantages and disadvantages, and the trade-off is sometimes difficult. A popular reasoning in the ecosystem is precisely that the future will allow for more fluid communication between blockchains.
A GameFi startup called Meta0
This project serving blockchain gaming answers to the name Meta0. The initial team includes a second co-founder and six people. The startup has already closed a first round of funding, but Jason Fung did not give any details about the amount of it or the names of his collaborators.
Moreover, there is no concrete information made public about the technological solution that Meta0 wants to offer. However, the problem that the startup wants to solve is real. Moreover, the GameFi sector is still only a niche, which has to find its economic model.
As a reminder, attendance in this sector has decreased by 96% since its peak. Nevertheless, it is often in times of crisis that ideas with high added value are built. Jason Fung will have to prove himself and take up many challenges in order to give birth to his solution.
