The Cardano (ADA) testnet welcomes the first decentralized exchange (DEX) of the blockchain. This test will allow, among other things, to observe certain parameters of the network when it receives a certain volume of traffic.
From SundaeSwap to MondaeSwap: a DEX on the Cardano testnet
The SundaeSwap DEX announced in a tweet on December 6, 2021, its launch on the Cardano testnet. The company behind Cardano, Input Output HK (IOHK), had indicated the day before, on December 5, 2021, that “@SundaeSwap will launch its DEX” on Cardano’s testnet, “later today.” Bugs eventually changed the original schedule slightly.
The duration of the test remains unknown for the moment, as does the date of the launch on the mainnet. Cardano-philes who wish to participate will have to meet certain conditions. They will have to use a third-party wallet like Nami to connect to the faucet and get the tokens that will be used in the test.
A slow but effective Cardano: between reviews and quality
The test will allow the IOHK team to monitor and analyze network parameters such as block size, CPU limit and memory limit, putting it “under high throughput.” According to IOHK, test participants should expect congestion and bugs on the testnet. These problems would indicate that the testnet is recording sufficient traffic, which is necessary for the evaluation.
The cryptosphere blames Cardano for the slow deployment of smart contracts and new features for DeFi. This slowness would however hide a strength of the network, which is its stability and security. The development of smart contracts on the platform took time in order to ensure absolute security, an approach that IOHK strongly defends:
“We have a lot of room for growth in L1. But we’re going to do things slowly and carefully. And do it right. That is and will remain at the core of our approach.”
Cardano is gradually expanding its ecosystem, slowly but surely. Each new project is a battle won in the adoption war, enough to make up for the impacts of his defeat after ADA was decreed as crypto non grata on eToro US.
