Samsung plans to showcase its new line of luxury smartphones in the Decentraland (MANA) metaverse. The phone market leader will unveil its new products, the much-anticipated Galaxy S22, in the ephemeral virtual store opened a few weeks ago.
Samsung will present its new phones in its virtual store in Decentraland (MANA)
In a tweet published this February 5, 2022, Samsung, the world’s number 1 cell phone company, announced its intention to present its new smartphones in the metaverse of Decentraland (MANA). The brand’s publication is deliberately mysterious and simply mentions the virtual world of Samsung and the date of February 9, 2022.
This Wednesday, the South Korean giant intends to present the Galaxy S22, a new range of flagship smartphones, during an online conference. The firm had recently confirmed the arrival of the phones by sending out the required invitations to the press. So there’s no doubt about the theme of this virtual event.
For the first time, Samsung will not only broadcast the presentation live on its YouTube channel, social networks and website. The event will also take place in Samsung’s virtual store in Decentraland, the 837X.
At the beginning of January, the manufacturer opened an ephemeral virtual store inspired by its real physical store located at 837 Washington Street in New York. By connecting to this digital space, Internet users will probably be able to follow the presentation of the S22 live. This is a major event in the world of technology and cell phones.
On site, users can “enter the store and immerse themselves in the 837X” through their avatar. On its website, Samsung says the virtual store features exclusive collections of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). It is not known if digital works related to the Galaxy S22 will be launched on this occasion.
A few weeks ago, the firm had already revealed its interest in non-fungible tokens during the CES (Consumer Electronic Show) in Las Vegas. In front of the press, Samsung announced the integration of NFTs in its future TV sets. The brand has developed a platform to buy, store and display digital works on its TVs.
Brands flock to the metaverse
Samsung isn’t the only world-renowned brand to jump into the metaverse. Recently, Carrefour bought a virtual plot in The Sandbox (SAND) universe. Shortly before the French retailer, Warner Music entered the metaverse by launching the first digital universe dedicated to music.
Some brands have also shown interest in virtual worlds, but they have not yet taken the plunge. This is the case of Apple, the first company to surpass 3,000 billion in market value. The Silicon Valley giant has officially expressed interest in the metaverse.
