Beginning with the 2022 season, the PortAventura World entertainment complex will accept Bitcoin (BTC) as a payment method for room reservations at its six hotels. Located in Spain, the resort welcomes more than 6.3 million visitors per year.
PortAventura World adopts Bitcoin (BTC)
And one more – Again and again, the adoption of Bitcoin (BTC) around the world continues. Now it’s PortAventura World’s turn to accept the queen of cryptocurrencies as payment.
An entertainment behemoth based in Spain, PortAventura World is the leisure complex with the most theme parks in Europe, having been visited by nearly 6.4 million people in 2019. From the start of the 2022 season, all six hotels in the park will accept BTC payments.
For now, this initiative focuses solely on Bitcoin, but the company implies in its release that other crypto-currencies may also be accepted in the future.
“Launching initiatives like this one allows us to align ourselves with the latest trends and meet the needs of our customers, aspects that are essential to strengthen our position as a leading and innovative company in the entertainment industry,”David García Blancas, commercial director of the complex
Although Bitcoin is only accepted for hotel room reservations at this time, it is highly likely that PortAventura World will add this payment option to other products if the pilot operation is successful.
Indeed, David García Blancas seems determined to go further with cryptocurrencies. In particular, he adds that PortAventura World is looking to improve the experience of its visitors through the integration of digital at the heart of the complex’s operations.
Regardless of the various regulators, the adoption of crypto-currencies and especially Bitcoin continues to move forward.
