The Elrond blockchain (EGLD) and its entire ecosystem are now officially available on the Opera browser. Thus, Opera’s 300 million users can now interact with Elrond’s decentralized applications and their tokens. A significant collaboration to accelerate the adoption of cryptocurrencies and Web3.
A boon for Elrond Network
The popular Opera browser today announced its integration of the Elrond blockchain (EGLD) through its native Opera Wallet.
A Web3 pioneer, the company embraced Web3 back in 2018 with the addition of new features. In January 2022, Opera also unveiled a new Web3-focused browser, Opera Crypto Browser.
This high-profile partnership will allow Elrond to reach a whole new audience of over 300 million active users.
The convenience of having the entire Elrond ecosystem at their fingertips will give Opera users the ability to partake in the products of this blockchain without the need for a third-party wallet.
Indeed, the integration of Elrond within Opera highlights the ecosystem of ESDT tokens (Elrond’s standard) and decentralized applications (dApps) built around this network.
Opera users will therefore have access to the native EGLD token, as well as to ESDTs from Holoride, Itheum, Utrust and Maiar DEX.
With this collaboration, Elrond and Opera intend to facilitate access to Web3, and believe that simplified access to the world of blockchain is vital for its democratization. As Susie Batt, crypto ecosystem lead at Opera, puts it:
“The seamless integration of Elrond further expands the wide range of cryptocurrency-centric services available to Opera Crypto Browser users. Such interoperability is becoming increasingly important for any project aiming to embrace Web3, and we are delighted that [Elrond] is joining us in our mission to accelerate the evolution of the Internet.”
Beniamin Mincu, CEO of Elrond Network, sees this synergy between Elrond and Opera as something truly unique:
“As our technology delivers radical improvements in performance and user experience critical to the next wave of mass adoption, we are a natural fit with Opera’s efforts to support the proliferation of blockchain-based technologies.”
Strong partnerships and acquisitions
Alongside the partnership with Opera, the Elrond blockchain is also growing through acquisitions.
Last January, Elrond Network had notably acquired the crypto-payment platform Utrust. A strategic operation since Utrust is one of the most used solutions by merchants to accept cryptocurrency payments.
In the same vein, Elrond Network finalized its acquisition of payment institution Twispay last March. A core member of Visa and Mastercard, Twispay has multiple licenses to operate as a payment processor throughout the European Economic Area.
