Ledger has formalized a partnership with The Sandbox (SAND) to educate metaverse attendees about the security of their cryptocurrencies. The announcement took place this Monday, on the first day of the Non Fungible Conference (NFC) in Lisbon.
Ledger and The Sandbox partner on security
At the Non Fungible Conference (NFC) in Lisbon, which kicked off this Monday, Ledger and The Sandbox marked the day by announcing a partnership.
Both brands are references in their sector, the first one for its hardwares wallets, and the second one for its metaverse.
Through this partnership, Ledger will conduct security education and prevention directly in The Sandbox metaverse. While we don’t yet know what form this will take, Ian Rogers announced that SAND owners will receive personalized Ledger Nano keys.
The importance of knowing how to protect your assets
From Ian Rogers’ perspective, this deal also has a marketing purpose, as he believes that someone who is educated about security issues is also more likely to become a customer of the company:
“The reality is that educated people become Ledger customers, and so we just want to make sure that all people have all the education they need to be safe and to properly manage this incredible right and freedom they have to own their assets themselves.”
Besides, we can’t repeat it enough: while there are huge advantages to knowing how to manage your own crypto-assets on a non-custodial wallet, the best compromise between agility and security remains, to this day, the use of a hardware wallet.
And this notion of security, which for the moment is mainly communicated in decentralized finance (DeFi), is just as valid for metaverses.
Despite the speculative bubble of the last few months, this is still a niche phenomenon, the development of which still needs to be worked on, but there is no doubt that metaverses will also be confronted with hacking and scamming attempts. This is why it is important to educate oneself on the right reflexes to have.
In this respect, the partnership between Ledger and The Sandbox is very relevant, because it is likely that novices will enter the blockchain world for the first time through metavers.
