Develop the technologies of tomorrow. This is the bias of the Italian Ministry of Economic Development, which has just announced the creation of a fund of 45 million euros. The grants will be distributed to projects in the blockchain, artificial intelligence and Internet of Things (IoT) sector.
Italy: a fund to support blockchain projects
The Ministry of Economic Development announced the news in a statement released yesterday. Entitled “Blockchain and artificial intelligence: incentives offered from September”, it explains that this is an “initial” budget. The grants are being distributed as part of the Innovation 4.0 program, which aims to support the country’s technological growth.
Italy is targeting three main areas: blockchain, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things. It will be up to the companies and players in these sectors to apply:
“From September 21, 2022, companies and public or private research centers, even in common with each other, will be able to apply for grants to carry out research and technological innovation projects.”
Do not let yourself be overtaken
Economic Development Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti confirms that this is a long-term vision for Italy:
“We support business investment in cutting-edge technologies with the aim of encouraging the modernization of production systems through increasingly interconnected, efficient, safe and fast business models. The challenge of competitiveness requires the manufacturing industry to have a constant capacity to innovate and seize the potential of new technologies.
The Italian government seems to have grasped the potential. The ministry has defined several “strategic priority sectors”: industry and manufacturing, the education system, agri-food, health and the environment, among others.technology in the blockchain sector, and we should see projects spread across this territory in the months and years to come.
