Since El Salvador made Bitcoin (BTC) a legal tender on September 7, 2021, the citizens of this small Central American country have massively embraced this development. The fact remains, however, that Bitcoin is still very unfamiliar to the general public, especially with the misconceptions spread by the mainstream media that have not helped. The “Casa del Bitcoin” hopes to remedy all this.
A center to learn about Bitcoin
As of January 18, 2022, there were already more than 4 million Salvadorans (out of 6.5 million inhabitants) with an account on the Salvadoran-designed Bitcoin wallet called Chivo. A definite success, but so fast that it didn’t necessarily give all its users time to understand all the intricacies of a blockchain network.
Paxful, one of the leading Bitcoin P2P exchange platforms, understands this crucial learning issue and intends to help Salvadorans educate themselves on the world of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.
In an announcement released on February 2, Paxful introduces the brand new “Casa del Bitcoin”: an education and training center that aims to “foster financial inclusion” through Bitcoin and the revolutionary technologies carried by the cryptosphere.
“It’s no secret that Bitcoin is shaping the future of finance in El Salvador and far beyond. Education remains a key driver of Bitcoin adoption around the world, and this new center showcases its importance in creating a more inclusive financial system. From the small trader to the Bitcoin enthusiast, we will be thrilled to bring knowledge to the masses, and share with them the power of Bitcoin for freedom and equal financial access.”
Ray Youssef, CEO and co-founder of Paxful
Free Bitcoin Training
The new Casa del Bitcoin presents its services as “free learning opportunities accessible to all”. The courses and trainings were made available as of this Thursday, February 3, 2022.
The education center building will also house the offices of the Built With Bitcoin Foundation, which will host educational events, as well as meetings between crypto-enthusiasts, to further strengthen the community around Bitcoin.
“We are thrilled to build a new home for the Built With Bitcoin Foundation in El Salvador. (…) We are excited to have the opportunity to provide resources and continue to create equitable opportunities for countless individuals and communities that bring our mission to life.”
Yusuf Nessary, Director of the Built With Bitcoin Foundation
Things are looking good for Bitcoin in El Salvador, as it is a long time coming. And the recent integration of the Lightning Network into the Chivo wallet, as well as the implementation of an additional 1,500 BTC ATMs, is also in line with this long-term vision.
