In the cryptocurrency derivatives sector, the young platform FTX (launched in May 2019) has done well to take advantage of the descent into hell of its competitor BitMEX (or at least that of its former leaders). Today, it is thus another prestigious partnership that is announced for Sam Bankman-Fried’s company.
The FTX name will soon be everywhere at this rate
This June 23, Sam Bankman-Fried, the CEO and founder of the FTX platform, made official on Twitter a partnership with Major League Baseball (MLB) – the main baseball league in the United States:
“To start, this means we’ll be rolling out one of the most unique sponsorships in the world, with [FTX] patches on every MLB umpire uniform. But ultimately, it means much more than that (…) We’re excited to partner with MLB to grow together: collaborating on products and experiences together, and helping build leading brands around the world. “
The FTX executive further adds that “this isn’t the only partnership we were considering,” though clearly “enthusiasm and creativity” tipped the scales in their favor.
Earlier this month, the platform had also offered to sponsor a team, but in e-sport (video game competitions). FTX saw the TSM professional team (aka Team SoloMid) renamed to TSM FTX, for the modest sum of $21 million per year for 10 years.
