The first demonstration in the history of the metaverse took place in the world of Decentraland (MANA). The participants gathered in front of the Samsung virtual store to denounce consumerism and capitalism.
First demonstration in the metaverse
The very first demonstration has just taken place in the metaverse. The event, organized by the Superfluous collective, gathered several dozen avatars to denounce consumerism and capitalism.
The demonstrators gathered in front of Samsung’s virtual store opened last January, a replica of a physical store located in New York, in which the giant had notably presented its new model: the Galaxy S22. All the participants proudly wore the same t-shirt on which one could read “MoneyFestation”.
The demonstrators did not carry stones or other projectiles, but signs with the slogan “I Have A Scream”, in reference to Martin Luther King’s “I Have A Dream”. The demonstration went on without incident.
A new phenomenon?
The metaverse could be a great playground for people to express their beliefs. Even if it is decried, it is likely to become a very important vector of information and values in the coming years. When will the SNCF and RATP demonstrations take place in the metaverse?
This phenomenon could grow as many brands are buying plots in the metaverse. Recently, French companies such as Carrefour, Groupe Casino and Axa France have acquired plots in The Sandbox (SAND).
Research firm Gartner recently published a survey that predicts that by 2026, 25% of the population will spend an hour a day on the metaverse, for consumption, learning, work or entertainment.
