The fantasy soccer game Sorare has reached an agreement with the Lega Serie A, the most important division of Italian soccer. The NFT cards of the players of the 18 teams that make up this league will therefore land on the platform, starting with the 2022-2023 season.
Sorare signs an agreement with the Lega Serie A
Sorare, the fantasy soccer game, today unveiled a partnership with the Italian top division: the Lega Serie A. This division sees prestigious clubs such as AC Milan, Juventus of Turin and Lazio Rome competing against each other.
Until then, we could already find some clubs on the game, like those previously mentioned. But this was the result of agreements made on a case-by-case basis. This time, this partnership includes all 18 clubs of this league. These clubs will benefit from the economic benefits of this long-term agreement, through the sale of non-fungible tokens (NFT) representing the players’ cards.
These new cards will be available on the platform from the beginning of the 2022-2023 season. After the Bundesligua in Germany, the Spanish Ligua and Major League Soccer in the US and Canada, Sorare thus concludes its fourth major partnership with a major division.
A partnership of choice
The Sorare platform only came into existence in 2018. Yet, its 2 million users worldwide and numerous associations with sports organizations symbolize its success. The recent diversification of its activity with baseball and the arrival of Kylian Mbappé as ambassador reinforce this trend.
For his part, Nicolas Julia, co-founder and CEO of Sorare, was enthusiastic about the new partnership:
“This partnership marks another key step in our journey to become the next giant in sports entertainment. The Lega Serie A is a global soccer powerhouse and home to many of the most iconic and renowned clubs in the history of the sport. It is also home to the world’s most passionate and enthusiastic soccer fans.”
In addition, he adds that the Italian market is the fastest growing for the platform. In fact, Italians represent the first international community on Sorare, so a partnership with the Lega Serie A is more than relevant.
A successful license
Despite the young age of the franchise, Sorare has nevertheless already become a unicorn and has a string of partnerships with big names. Two weeks ago, it was neither more nor less than Zinedine Zidane, who was announced.
We then asked their teams how they managed to be listened to and understood by prestigious players and to achieve such a result in such a short time. Whether it be with clubs, sportsmen or different institutions. Brian O’hagan, Head of Growth at Sorare, shared his answer:
“Sorare has been educating these institutions for almost 4 years now on the value of non-fungible token technology to protect their [intellectual property], develop their brand and new revenue. Now that we have more than 250 partner clubs, we have a base, a history, which allows us to reassure new partners. In addition, the fact that we are accompanied by international sportsmen and entrepreneurs like Serena Williams and Kylian Mbappé help in this development strategy.”
And adding the Italian first division to its game, Sorare offers itself an additional growth opportunity. And if the Italian public is as demanding as the platform reports, the platform has all the cards in hand for further commercial success.
