Let’s go to El Salvador to discover a veterinary clinic like no other. It was financed by the Chivo company thanks to the Bitcoin revenues generated in the country. President Bukele is proud of it and it makes us feel good.
Chivo Pets veterinary clinic funded by Bitcoin
On February 24 at 3pm local time, the Chivo Pets veterinary clinic was inaugurated by President Nayib Bukele. Located in Santa Clara – right next to the capital San Salvador – it will now be open 24 hours a day for all pet owners. The clinic offers grooming, emergencies, inpatient consultations and hospitalizations. But also rehabilitation, surgery, imaging and even a laboratory analysis. The facility’s slogan: “Let’s give them back the love they give us!”
All of the services offered will be charged only $0.25, with the rest covered by the Chivo company. As a reminder, the Chivo is this wallet created when Bitcoin was established as a legal currency in the country. Its installation was mandatory to receive the $30 promised by the government. Finally, let’s also mention that the average salary in the country is 330$.
The inauguration of the event was broadcast live on all social networks and resulted in numerous publications. The next day, the official Twitter account of the Republic of El Salvador generously published photos of the charming beasts with their masters.
A well-functioning communication for a necessarily consensual project
Here is a small collection of publications explaining all the quality of the care given to our favorite little animals…
The 3D presentation of the project, the laying of the foundation stone and finally the inauguration, each step of this project was carefully presented to the press. In communication, this is called story-telling and the least we can say is that the government of El Salvador has mastered the subject. Even the hiring of the staff – 300 people anyway – was covered by the local press. Bitcoin is doing the country good and it must be known!
So yes, we know that all is not well in El Salvador since Bitcoin became a legal tender. Yes there have been problems with the Chivo wallet. Yes the country is still suffering from a thousand ills. But can’t we also simply take good news for what it is? It’s simply a lower cost veterinary clinic and this kind of news just feels good.
