The Axelar interoperability network project is primarily aimed at facilitating crypto asset transfers and information sharing between major blockchain networks. Axelar’s teams today announced the launch of its Mainnet for this February 2022.
Axelar: a true crossroads between blockchains
The need for interoperability between different blockchain networks is one of the main keys to the mass adoption of cryptocurrencies. The Axelar project fills this need. It creates a network dedicated to making exchanges between different crypto networks transparent and intuitive.
This January 11, 2022, Axelar announces it on its official website. The public version of its decentralized interoperability network will be deployed in February 2022. The connectivity between many blockchain networks is already specified there. For the launch, it will first allow asset and information transfers between Ethereum (ETH), Avalanche (AVAX), Terra (LUNA), Fantom (FTM) and Moonbeam.
“Starting in February, Axelar’s mainnet will universally and securely connect multiple autonomous blockchain ecosystems. This will provide a key infrastructure for Web3. Developers and their decentralized applications will be able to leverage Axelar to unleash the full potential of multiple ecosystems (…) Our ultimate goal is to enable creators and users to interact and build on any blockchain network that meets their needs. We must ensure compatibility and information flow with all other ecosystems and between all users. (…) “
Sergey Gorbunov, CEO and co-founder of Axelar
New cross-blockchain development tools thanks to the mainnet
A small revolution accompanies the launch of Axelar’s mainnet. It brings new APIs (programming interfaces) and an SDK (development kit). They will allow the creation of applications that are both decentralized (dApps) and interoperable. Axelar’s teams are directly developing one of these dApps called Satellite. It will allow users of different blockchains to transfer their assets between networks.
“Axelar has built a very impressive solution that allows developers to build on top of blockchain networks that directly match their goals, while providing an easy-to-use platform suitable for any programming language. (…) Axelar’s universal interoperability network will have a significant impact on the way blockchain ecosystems communicate and interact. Ultimately, it is technology like this that will enable mainstream adoption of blockchains and Web3.”
Do Kwon, founder and CEO of Terraform Labs
In addition to the blockchains already mentioned, other integrations are already in the testing phase right now. Notably those of the Polygon (MATIC), Polkadot (DOT) and Cosmos (ATOM) networks.
The Axelar project has also successfully raised $25 million in Series A funding in 2021. It thus seems to have the confidence of many major players. With the launch of its mainnet, the project is well on its way to achieving its operational evolution. Everyone will be able to participate in this success, thanks to the “Quantum” community program, which will allow interested parties to contribute to the development and adoption of Axelar.
